Terminal information
There are 3 Terminals (2, 3, 4). Note that Terminal 1, the original terminal from 1952, was torn down in 1990. Terminal 4 is known as Barry M Goldwater.
Terminal passenger links
Note that a people-mover-system is currently under construction (the Sky Harbor Airport Automated People Mover.)
Meanwhile courtesy buses run between the terminals and on to parking facilities (approximately every 7 to 10 minutes.)
A: Light Railway
The airport runs a free shuttle service from all 3 terminals to the Metro Light Rail stop at 44th Street and Washington.
The silver and black Airport Shuttle buses are designed specifically for travelers by having luggage areas and running the same schedule as the light rail seven days a week.
It is then a 15 minute ride to downtown Phoenix. Cost @ Summer 2009:
- 1 ride, $1.75.
- All day pass, $3.50 (expire at 2.59am on the following day.)
- 3 day pass, $10.50.
- 7 day pass, $17.50.
B1: Shared Ride Vans
A number of private companies run door-to-door vans providing service between the airport and various locations, including a selection of Arizona cities. Destinations include:
- downtown Phoenix.
- Greater Phoenix metro area.
- Yuma.
- Tucson.
- Flagstaff.
- Prescott.
Access at:
- Terminal 2: north curbside.
- Terminal 3: north & south curbside.
- Terminal 4: level 1, north & south curbside.
@ Summer 2009 a downtown Phoenix fare would cost in the region of $14.
B2: Hotel Shuttles
Courtesy vans are operated by various hotels and motels in and around the airport area.
C: Taxis
Taxi terminal access is as follows:
- Terminal 2: north curbside.
- Terminal 3: north & south curbside.
- Terminal 4: level 1, north & south curbside.
Rates remain the same regardless of company, number of passengers and number of bags. @ Summer 2009, the first mile is $5 and each additional mile is $2.10.
D: Limousines
Limousines offer airport-to-door service. For hire limousines are available on the south curbs of Terminals 3 & 4 and just east of the north curb of Terminal 2. Rates vary according to destinations but typically range from $35 to $85.
E: Rental Cars
The airport is serviced by most major rental car companies. The common Rental Car Shuttle continuously stops (approximately every 5 to 10 minutes) at the curb on baggage claim levels of each terminal.
