A: Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) “L” Train Services

The CTA station is located beside the airport. The Orange line is particularly handy for hotels in the downtown ‘Loop’ area.
Chicago’s ‘L’ train & bus transit system operates on fare cards. Look out for large blue machines located within the subway stations. These cards are rechargeable - put as much money as you want into the machine and that value transfers on to the card. @ Summer 2009 fares:
- 1 ride on the 'L', $2.25.
- a transfer within 2 hours costs an extra 25 cents.
- another transfer within this 2 hour limit is free.
Alternatively you can buy a visitor pass. @ Summer 2009:
- 1 day, $5.75.
- 3 days, $14.
- 7days, $23.
These activate on first use. Passes allow unlimited rides for the specified time – the expiration time and date will be printed on the back of the card. Buy at Currency Exchanges, select Jewel and Dominick's, and in the CTA store
