| Terminal information The airport has 2 check-in terminals, North and South. Note that they are part of the same building. Six concourse buildings, parallel to one another, exist for passenger boarding. The first concourse is directly connected to the terminal building, and is known as the T-Gates (for Terminal). The remaining five concourses are arranged successively in distance from the terminal as Concourses A, B, C, D, and E Concourse E handles international flights. |
| Terminal passenger links The concourses are connected by a pedestrian walkway, which begins at the terminal building and passes under the center of each concourse. In addition to a pedestrian walkway, the Transportation Mall also features an automated people mover. This has a station at the east end of the main terminal for passengers entering the Transportation Mall after passing through security (this station also serves as the station for Concourse T), and a station at each of the remaining five concourses. There is an additional station for the Baggage Claim area, which is located directly underneath the terminal building. |
| A: MARTA Rail The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) trains take 15 minutes to reach the city center, and they arrive and depart from the western end of the terminal building (between North and South) every eight minutes. The station (called Airport) is elevated above the terminal building - it is the south terminus of 2 lines, the North-South and the Northeast-South. Note the station Five Points - this is the central station of the MARTA rail line located in the center of downtown Atlanta. At the Five Points station both the North, East, West and South lines meet. @ Summer 2009 fares are: - one way, $2. - 7 day pass, $13. |
| B1: Shared Ride Vans A number of private companies run door-to-door vans providing service between the airport and selected locations - details of these can be obtained at the ground transportation areas in the North and South Terminals. @ Summer 2009 a fare into downtown Atlanta can range from $15 to $25. |
| B2: Hotel Shuttles There are a number of hotels, motels and inns surrounding the airport. Many provide free shuttle service to and from the airport. Hotel shuttle service is available on the Blue Isle outside in the Ground Transportation Center, located at the west end of the building (west curb). The west curb is located outside between the North and South Terminals. |
| C: Taxis Readily available outside the terminals, the cabs are metered, but with set fees for journeys to downtown. |
| D: Limousines Limousines are available only by advanced reservation. |
| E: Rental Cars Major car rental firms have registration counters located inside the airport on the 1st floor within the atrium. For car pickup go outside to the Ground Transportation Center and catch the shuttle bus to the relevant area. You will find this shuttle on the Yellow Bus Isle located at the west curb between the North and South Terminals in the Ground Transportation Center. |
